Non-Fiction Reading and Writing

For the past several weeks we have been immersed in reading and writing non-fiction.  We explored many of the unique features found in non-fiction books. These posters show the features we learned about:

Next, students went on a scavenger hunt in books and magazines to find examples of these features and cut and paste them into their own Non-Fiction Text Features Book.

After reading many non-fiction books, each student then chose a topic that they are an "expert" in and wrote their own non-fiction teaching book including chapters, table of contents, photographs and glossaries!
Our 5th grade buddies then joined us to help turn our books into a google slides presentation.

Now we are having a blast presenting our books to the class!
