Hands On Nature: White Tail Deer

Last week we learned all about the interdependence among white tailed deer and other living things in the forest. Students were able to touch and feel pelt samples, hooves and skulls. Ask your child to teach you the difference between antlers and horns!

Readers Theater

This month we have been reading the new Red Clover books. One of our favorites was, Unicorn Thinks He's Pretty Great,  by Bob Shea. It is a fun story about the unexpected friendship between Unicorn and Goat. After hearing the story, the students acted it out while reading the script with a partner. We have some budding actors and actresses among us!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Thank you to Aedan and his mom for making this a special day! We learned why we celebrate St. Patrick's Day and saw a beautiful slide show of Ireland. The celebration was complete with a delicious shamrock cake. Yumm!

Instrument Petting Zoo

On March 11, we visited the Instrument Petting Zoo! Everyone had a chance to play lots of instruments and experiment with their sounds. I think we have some musicians in this crowd!

Read Across America

Today we celebrated Read Across America:  A celebration of reading and Dr. Seuss's birthday!

Our day started with a K-5 assembly in the gym. Teachers read "0h, the Places You'll Go", by Dr. Seuss.

Each team dressed up to show a favorite book or character.  Kaleidoscope dressed up as Squirrel, the main character in the book, A Dog's Life: Autobiography of a Stray. The book is about family, survival and finding love....AND it is written by Squirrel (who is actually a puppy!)

We had special guest readers...

And got cozy with a favorite Dr. Seuss book!
