We studied I Spy books and then made a poster of our team name with a similar style. The next time you are in our kiva, try to spy the face of your child in our Kaleidoscope letters.

4th Grade Buddies
We have new buddies from the Wonder Team, our neighbors in our kiva. We have gotten together with them to use the app Pic Collage to make electronic posters about ourselves. The 2nd grade students used this app last year and could show their 4th grade buddies what to do.

The week so far....
In math, students all made beetle glyphs. They used a chart to determine which color, shape, stripes and dots to include in their beetle based on their favorite season, their gender, month born and number of people living in their home. Next, we sorted them by various attributes and created life sized graphs. Finally, each student created their own graph in their work journals.
Students also explored various manipulatives during work station time.
Our early morning routine includes time to either quiet read or respond to a writing prompt in their writing books. Half the class writes, while the other half reads; alternating each day. On Monday everyone starts the week with calming mandala art.

Puppet Shares
After everyone completed their summer interviews, we made puppets! The puppets were used as a fun way to report out on all the fun their partner had this summer.

The Turn-Around, Upside-Down Alphabet Book
Ask your child to tell you about the class book we made....a traditional ABC book with a "twist". Once it is ready, we will send it home for each family to enjoy.
Number Posters
In math, students searched the classroom for hidden numbers. Once they discover their number, they created a colorful poster on which they represented that number in as many ways possible. They used words, pictures, tally marks, equations and more.
